Attention:  Thank you to all for your overwhelming concern.  It means a lot.  We are going back to Elbow on September 30 and will update this site with new photos of the island and a progress report when we return at the end of October.

Dave and Shauna Walgrave

Welcome to Sunrise Point.  This site will temporarily be dedicated to Hurricane Floyd information and photos.  Everyone on Elbow Cay is safe and happy to be alive.  We lived through the storm ourselves and came from the island on Friday, September 17, 1999.  The island is devastated, but the spirits are good.  The outpouring of love and generousity is unparalleled.  The island will need quite a bit of work and a lot of dollars to rebuild, but the people are dedicated to bringing  the island together for a stronger, even more beautiful Elbow Cay.
They are very concerned that no one will want to come back, but as we stepped foot in the U.S. and spoke with many of you, we know that this is not true. The Abacos have a beauty and allure that no storm, of any size, can wash away.  It may take awhile, but with everyones help, it will bounce back.
For rental information about Sunrise Point, please check back with this site in a few months.  We feel very fortunate to have our home and will make the necessary repairs as soon as possible.  If you had a home that was destroyed and need a place to stay on the island, e-mail or call and if we don’t have room, we will do what we can to see who does.
A relief fund has been established and any help you can send will be greatly appreciated.  Make checks payable to:   Hopetown Association
